PATRICK ROOD Co-Owner of Trouble & Bass and DJ Crew Member
"Likes To Swim" Get splashy with Patrick Rood a.k.a. The Captain, Co owner of Trouble & Bass Recordings, and a man of many talents that has been pushing and molding the Trouble & Bass artist roster and brand since his induction to the T&B Crew in 2007. When he's not globe trotting around as The Captain, he's at the T&B klubhaus juggling a thousand duties, from curating T&B Radio on Scion Radio 17, directing & producing music videos, art directing the next T&B release cover, managing the label releases, producing the next T&B events or designing the next T&B merch item. When he gets time to breathe he takes it to the club with his blend of House, Baltimore Breaks, Dubstep, Hip Hop, R&B and bass heavy music.
Patrick's been one of my favorite sources of creativity, most notably due to the fact that this Capitan is definitely one upbeat dude. His positive levels of engagement with his professional endeavors, projects and the people he connects with is refreshingly clear. Show The Cap't and T&B a little love, the label recently celebrated their 5 year anniversary, has got a sweet artistic line up and some dopely designed T&B gear to adorn yourself with as well. Enjoy!
TISA: What is your “Inspired Purpose," in other words... what fills you with abundant enthusiasm, what are you most thrilled to create?
PR: I run the record label Trouble & Bass and manage all its projects, so a lot of my enthusiasm for what I do comes from art and music. I really enjoy producing something physical that we make, like a graphic T, or curating and releasing music for the label, both I get a lot of enjoyment from all the positive feedback on the things we create or help create.
TISA: How have you used these inspirations to drive your professional pursuits?
PR: Well, since I am professionally running the label, then yeah I definitely use my inspirations to drive my pursuits!
TISA: Have their been risks involved and how have you moved beyond your fears or transformed obstacles?
PR: With any kind of self started business, there are always risks. I started helping Drop The Lime with T&B after it had been around for a year, and I came into helping with no experience at all, so there were a lot of fears of messing up or doing something wrong, since I was representing someone elses company and dream. But, I've always been a hard worker, so I quickly learned a lot and applied what knowledge I had, or common sense, and just did the best I could.
TISA: How do your inspirations connect you with nature?
PR: I like to swim in the ocean
TISA: When do you feel most empowered and/or capable of creating?
PR: As soon as I wake up! I love to get straight to work in the morning. I definitely feel the most energized and ready to get a lot done. I also feel really ready to create after having a good meeting with co-label owner Drop The Lime. it's nice to bounce ideas off each other and get a lot of creative juices flowing, I think we both definitely work well together during the creative process.
